Pete and Fiona's Wedding at Hipping Hall

Hipping Hall is simply perfect for cozy, intimate and beautiful weddings which is exactly what Pete and Fiona's wedding was all about. Nestled on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales just a stone's throw from the Lake District this quaint restaurant-turned-wedding-venue oozes character and good vibes.

Set in stunning grounds this North West wedding venue was the perfect choice for Pete and Fiona to tie the knot. Their wedding was amazing and filled with happy people. Along with their boys they welcomed me in as part of the family from the first time I met them.

This was my first wedding at Hipping Hall and I already can't wait to be back there. It's a perfect little venue and it was lovely to hook up with some other fantastic suppliers to make Pete and Fiona's Hipping Hall wedding one to remember. Music and Entertainment was provided by the extremely awesome Synergy Wedding Band. On floral duty was the incredible Brackens of Bowness and the venue was dressed by the insanely talented Typical Type

Rivington Hall Barn Wedding Photography - Scarlett & Gareth

Scarlett and Gareth's Rivington Hall Barn Wedding

I'd only ever heard good things about Rivington Hall Barn so was obviously made up when I finally got the chance to work there and capture Scarlett and Gareth's wedding photography.

The barn is a grade II listed building which is beautifully surrounded by open fields and woodland. The interior of the barn itself is packed with character and original features including Saxon beams.

Rainy English Wedding

Scarlett and Gareth got married in the beautiful English summertime, which here in the North West usually includes the odd downpour. Well we were certainly in for a treat from Mother Nature as she threw plenty of rain at us for the most part of the day. I tell all of my couples that they shouldn't worry about the weather on their wedding day. It is the one element they have literally no control over. If you plan for it (and maybe even expect it a little) then this can avoid disappointment if and when it happens.

If I was going to shoot a rainy wedding I'm glad it was that of Gareth and Scarlett as their relaxed and chilled attitudes and approach to everything made the fact hat it rained no problem at all. They rocked the brollies, Scarlett threw on her Converse and everyone just cracked on and had an awesome day. After the initial downpour after the church service there were plenty of breaks in the rain which allowed us to get out and enjoy the stunning grounds at Rivington Hall Barn. Our patience also paid off and gifted us with a sunset late on the day. Scarlett didn't complain once that her dress got a bit wet.

Summer Wedding at St. Chads Church and Rivington Hall Barn

The morning of the wedding, for me, was spent hanging out with Scarlett and her Bridesmaids while they got themselves ready for the day ahead. After leaving them I shot off to meet Gareth, his Groomsmen and some of their guests at the Old Town Hall in Poulton, just outside St. Chads Church. It was a quick dash, under brollies to the church for their wedding ceremony.

After a beautiful ceremony and a quick visit from their soaking dogs we all head off to Rivington Hall Barn to get started with the celebrations. Gareth and Scarlett arrived ahead of their guests so we nipped off for a quick 10 minutes to get a few portraits while their guests arrived and the rain had stopped.

The rest of the day was packed with drinking, garden games, brilliant speeches and serious amounts of dancing thanks to the brilliant Twenty Somethings party band! I loved being Gareth and Scarlett's Rivington Hall Barn wedding photographer and cannot wait to be back there soon.

Matt and Nat's Summer Wedding at Mitton Hall

Mitton Hall is easily one of the North West's most beautiful wedding venues. It fuses old and traditional with new and contemporary. Mix this with it's ridiculously stunning views and it's idyllic setting and you can see why Matt and Nat chose it for their summer wedding. Being their Mitton Hall wedding photographer was a pleasure and with this amazing venue and lovely laid back humans I was able to document their wedding day perfectly.

Matt and Nat's wedding celebrations were brilliant. Their wedding day was filled with so much beauty and so many moments that it was easy for me to tell the story of their day. Their guests were fun, happy and full of character and we had tons of gorgeous summer light to help. Matt and Nat were married in the Party Room which is such a stunning room and filled with great natural light. As the weather was on-side with us it meant that their guests could enjoy the terrace for drinks and even explore the grounds and partake in some casual dike jumping!

I absolutely love Mitton Hall weddings and Matt and Nat's was no let up. They are such a lovely couple and made me feel like part of the family.

Gemma and Michael's Church and Marquee Wedding in Lancashire

I first visited the site for Gemma and Michael's marquee wedding when I met them for their pre-wedding shoot a few months before the big day. As soon as I saw the views and heard the plans for their wedding I knew it was going to be awesome.

Michael and Gemma were married at the stunning St. Annes church in Rossendale before heading off to Gemma's family home in Bacup, where their Marquee Wedding Reception awaited them. Gemma's family own and run a Yorkstone quarry so it seemed fitting to have their wedding at home, with their marquee sat perfectly overlooking the stunning Pennines. Mark Jackson and his team at Passion 4 Events had done such an insanely good job decorating the marquee and making the day run smoothly.

It was a non stop day of shooting for me with plenty of going on. After photographing Michael and his groomsmen early on I head to meet up with Gemma, her family and her bridesmaids where the lovely Makeup by Frankie was getting the girls ready for the day ahead.

After a last minute dash to get Gemma ready in time, and me nearly getting lost on the way to the Church, we arrived at St. Annes Church where Michael and their guests were waiting her arrival. As a surprise for the lovely Bride and Groom Gemma's Dad had arranged an extravagant arrival for them to the Marquee. Unfortunately there was no room for me in the chopper but I raced back to the marquee to witness the reception in full swing.

The rest of the day was filled so much emotion and laughter. There was a Fresh Prince of Bel-Air rapped speech, burger vans and insanely good Pizza, crazy dancing and music and fireworks to round off with.    Needless to say it was a very good day!

Nic and Leanne's Wedding at The Wedding Chapel and Blackpool Pleasure Beach

It's quite rare these day's I get to shoot weddings on my home turf so I was super excited about Nic and Leanne's wedding at Blackpool Pleasure Beach from the moment they booked me. I've lived just outside Blackpool all my life but will always class it as my 'hometown'. It has got a lot of stick over the years but once you accept it for what it is - a fun, busy, bright town you can get the most out of it. There is always something to do in Blackpool and Nic and Leanne's wedding was very much inline with this.

After our initial meeting to discuss their wedding plans I knew this wedding would be brilliant. Nic and Leanne embraced the feel of the town and didn't try and make the theme of their big day stuffy or boring. It was anything but that!

The day started out with preps at The Big Blue Hotel, which is attached to, and overlooks, Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Nic and his Dad, also his best man, were in a nice relaxed place when I arrived with them. Leanne and the girls were slightly giddier to say the least. Bubbly was flowing whilst the hair and make-up was being attended to.

After a short journey down the prom in her horse and carriage Leanne arrived at The Wedding Chapel to meet Nic and their guests for the ceremony. After plenty of laughter and some tears the newlyweds lead their guests to an awaiting vintage tram for the next part of their Blackpool wedding. The tram, fully loaded with booze took us on a bit of a ride before coming to rest outside their wedding reception venue, Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

The fun didn't stop there though as their guests were greeted with fish and chips, some awesome acoustic music by The Deadbeats and a table full of 2p's for the arcades downstairs. After some fun on the 2p machines Nic, Leanne and I headed into the Pleasure Beach to hit some rides before making our way back to The White Tower in time for their wedding breakfast and some brilliant speeches. The Deadbeats were then back at night to keep everyone dancing.

2017 WEDDING HIGHLIGHTS

Looking back through my weddings from 2017 was a brilliant reminder of what a cracking year it has been. Filled with moments of laughter, beauty and pure emotion. I have always strived to better myself as a photographer by hunting for moments and trying to capture emotion in my images. For me documenting weddings has been always been about enjoying what I do. If I can tell a story for my couples whilst shooting moments that make me smile then I'm doing a good job. Real moments are the heart and soul of every wedding.

Looking through the weddings I shot in 2017 and trying to narrow down all the thousands of images I took was so hard. The following 200 images are just some of my favourites from 2017. They may not be perfect but each one makes me smile, either from the moment, the people or the memory of where and when it was taken.

Another top year. Here's to 2018.

STE AND SHARON'S GIBBON BRIDGE WEDDING

Ste and Sharon's Gibbon Bridge wedding was a joy to be a part of. This was my first experience of photographing a wedding at Gibbon Bridge. It's a stunning venue just outside of Clitheroe, set in vast acres of gardens and grounds. I found it very fitting that it hosted the wedding of such a lovely couple.

The day was packed with all the good stuff you'd expect from a wedding along with some added extras such as pigs, an outdoor ceremony that almost didn't happen outdoors and the legend that is The Tall Toastmaster.

TOM AND SIOBHAN'S SAMLESBURY HALL WEDDING.

Tom and Siobhan were married at the historic stately home Samlesbury Hall in Lancashire. I do love shooting here, the setting is simply stunning and wonderfully intimate. Mix this with gorgeous pockets of light and picturesque grounds and you've got one hell of a wedding venue.

Tom and the boys were on fine form in the morning, where I started out, with beers, bacon butties and plenty of banter. I arrived at Samlesbury to meet up with Siobhan and her girls where they were getting ready for the day ahead.

Laughter, tears, alcohol, music and dancing followed to make such an awesome wedding.
